ERP Systems

With so many ERP systems now available, how do you choose the right one for your engineering or manufacturing company? Will it meet your specific needs and requirements and have all the functionality you want? Many of the best known ERP systems such as Sage200, Microsoft Dynamics and SAP are designed for large organisations, not SMEs. They can often be too ‘big’ for the majority of SMEs, with unnecessary functionality overcomplicating matters. This in turn can mean a costly implementation process. I specialise in finding the right sized system with the functionality required to reduce costs and speed up the implementation process.”

MRP

Companies have a need to control the types and quantities of materials they purchase and to plan which products are to be produced. You need to know the quantities to ensure that you are able to meet the current and future customer demands, all at the lowest possible cost. If a company is to make a bad decision in any of these areas it will make the company lose money.

For Example:

  • If a company purchases insufficient quantities or wrong items used in manufacturing it may be unable to meet customer obligations for supplying the products on time.

  • If a company purchases to much of an item, money is wasted - the excess quantity can tie up cash while it remains as stock that might never be used at all.

MRP Systems are a tool to deal with these problems by helping you know that answer to the below questions:

  • What items are required in the BOM's?

  • What quantities are required in the BOM's?

  • When are the items required?...
